EvergreenDIRECT Credit Union is owned by each and every member that we serve. It's no surprise our sole focus is to provide quality, flexible services to our members at a reasonable price. Something we call "Banking. At your speed."

Banks, on the other hand, are different. They have shareholders and investors to whom they have to pay large profits. This would clearly get in the way of our mission to serve our members. Without shareholders to bow down to, our "profits" are passed on to our true owners — our members! This is how we are able to offer higher dividends on deposits, lower interest rates on loans, and fewer fees.

Anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the state of Washington is eligible to join evergreenDIRECT Credit Union. Family members are also eligible to join, regardless of where they live. And once a member always a member, even if you move.

EvergreenDIRECT Credit Union was formed in 1954 by employees of the State Department of Public Assistance. The original credit union name was SDPA Credit Union.

In 1973, the credit union was federally chartered, and the name was changed to Social and Health Services Federal Credit Union. At that time, the field of membership included Department of Social and Health Services, Department of Health and all former groups.

In 2005, the credit union changed our Credit Union charter from Federal to a State Charter and changed our primary field of membership to All persons who live, work, worship, or go to school in the following 'qualified communities' described as school districts within the state of Washington. In June 2006, the credit union merged with Evergreen Federal Credit Union and changed names to evergreenDIRECT Credit Union effective January 1, 2007.
